Jim has been a serious photographer for all of his adult life. He began a serious exploration of photographic image-making in late 1980's. Jim studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Maine Photographic Workshops. He presented several one-man shows in Baltimore in early 1990's and began to actively display his work again with a one-man show entitled Fantastical Impressions at Jackson Artworks in Omaha, Nebraska, in August of 2004. That 70-image exhibition was a retrospective that covered approximately 15 years of work.
Jim is currently working with copper, steel, and brass, seeking to develop new and creative means to display his images in one-of-a-kind mixed media presentations. At the same time, he has been inspired to create entirely new work in these media.
Jim continues to expand his "Clothed in Light" series, which now consists of well over 100 images. He is also working on a book featuring the series that will incorporate images, text, and flowing montages in a unique presentation.
