While it´s true that Judith Plummer hails from Tennessee, she doesn´t really consider
herself a southern playwright. Born in Nashville, she first left home to attend
Concordia University in Montreal to study cinema and then headed for Los Angeles
where she received an M.A. in Professional Writing from the University of Southern
California. While in Los Angeles, she interned for a producer on the Warner
Brothers lot and pursued a career as a screenwriter. After moving to northern
California in the late 1990s, Plummer became involved with the Playwrights Center
of San Francisco and redirected her talents into live theatre. Later, following a crosscountry
move, she joined Washington D.C.´s Playwrights Forum, which gave her
the opportunity to study dramatic writing techniques with playwright Jeffrey Sweet
through forum-sponsored workshops. Plummer currently lives in the Boston area
where she is an active participant in Boston´s Playwrights Platform.
