Mark Farnen

Mark Farnen Mark Farnen was born and raised in Brooklyn and has set many of his plays there. Readings and productions of his work include: Where The Sky Begins, read at Ensemble Studio Theatre´s Octoberfest and at 29th Street Rep´s Plays-in-Motion series; After Dinner and When Children Sleep, both produced at Manhattan Theatre Source; Flying With Dad, read at Center Stage; and the short pieces Going There and Caring, read as part of the Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre´s Snapshots series, led by Arthur Kopit. After Dinner has also recently been read at the Great Plains Theatre Conference and subsequently produced by the Grande Olde Players Theatre in Omaha, Neb. Farnen has studied playwriting with Stuart Spencer, Arthur Giron and Ed Baker as well as participated in playwriting intensives with Arthur Kopit and Romulus Linney. He has studied lyric writing as part of the BMI-Lehman Engel Music Theatre Program with Skip Kennon and Maury Yeston. Farnen is currently working on the full-length play Saraph.
