Richard Martin Hirsch

Richard Martin Hirsch Richard Martin Hirsch is the playwright-in-residence for the Chandler Studio Theatre and a member of the Ensemble Studio Theatre (Los Angeles) Playwrights´ Unit. His work has been performed in New York City (Abingdon Theatre, Madair Productions, Phare Play), Boston (Boston Theatre Works) and Spokane (Spokane Civic Theatre) as well as numerous theatres in Los Angeles (including the Blank Theatre, EST, Pacific Resident Theatre and Vox Humana). In April 2006, his drama The Quality of Light received a critically acclaimed production at the Long Beach Playhouse that led to an Ovation Award nomination for Best World Premiere Play. In February 2007, Hirsch´s drama Atonement had its world premiere at Theatre 40 and earned a Critic´s Pick of the Week designation from L.A. Weekly Newspaper. His new play The Monkey Jar will have its world premiere at Theatre 40 in February 2008, as will his comedy The Concept of Remainders at the Chandler Studio Theatre in April 2008.
