Toni Press-Coffman has written 20 plays that have been produced throughout the
country. Created with a grant from the Arizona Commission on the Arts, Press-
Coffman´s Touch has been produced throughout the United States including a 2003 off-Broadway production
and a production at Actors Theatre of Louisville´s Humana Festival. Her play about the
Los Angeles riots, Trucker Rhapsody, was developed at Playlabs in Minneapolis in 2003
and produced in Indianapolis and San Francisco. It will be produced in New York City at
the George Faison Firehouse Theater next season. In 1999, Press-Coffman was awarded
one of ten National Endowment for the Arts/Theatre Communications Group Playwright
Residencies to develop her play Bodies and Hearts in the Face of the Monster with the
Indianapolis Phoenix Theatre. Subsequently retitled That Slut!, the play premiered at the Phoenix
in 2001 and was produced in San Francisco and Dallas.
Her play Stand received the Brodkin Award. It was produced at the Purple Rose Theatre in 2002. Her play about Richard III, Two Days of Middleham, ran at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2000. Recently, Holy Spirit on Grand Avenue had its world premiere at the Bloomington Playwrights Project in March 2006. She is currently at work on a new musical that will be produced at Borderlands Theater in 2008.
Press-Coffman is a member of the Dramatists Guild. She lives, writes, teaches and acts in Tucson, Arizona, where she is Borderlands Theater´s literary manager.
