A Message from Dave Ho

In a press release dated Sept. 25, 2011, we told the world that the MCC fall enrollment was 18,518. Online credit hours increased six percent from one year ago. Sometimes, it is interesting to see what the enrollment picture is by prefix. In a table provided by Denise Jacobsen in Institutional Research, you get to see the whole picture. Enjoy. Students with Traumatic Brain Injury and/or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn (also Iraq) and Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) are the three military theaters from which service people are returning to the States. Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) are all too common, but unfortunately they can be difficult to detect. Because of the structure inherent in military life and duties, many times the soldier is not aware of having sustained a TBI or having PTSD until he or she is home and life is more unstructured. Because there is an increase in the number of active duty military/veterans on college campuses, MCC is making a concerted effort to increase awareness of staff and faculty of the challenges these individuals face when returning to civilian settings.
