SkillsUSA is coming to Omaha

SkillsUSA For the first time in Nebraska history, SkillsUSA will be coming to Omaha in 2014–2016. This annual event will be held at the Century Link each year in April. More than 1,200 high school and college students from all over Nebraska will come for three days to compete against each other for the opportunity to represent Nebraska at the national conference in Kansas City the last week in June. Excellence in Teaching Awards

Metropolitan Community College's Excellence in Teaching Awards were presented at the Academic Affairs Awards Reception on March 6. These awards are given annually to full-time and adjunct faculty who exemplify professionalism, commitment to learning, relationships with students and relationships with colleagues. This year's recipients are Darin Jensen, Kathy Rieken-Gutshall, Ted Tucker and Thomas McDowell. Learn more…

Assessment of Student Learning Awards

The Assessment of Student Learning individual and group awards were presented at the Academic Affairs Awards Reception on March 6. These awards are designed to recognize both an individual faculty member and a group whose efforts have significantly contributed to departmental, program or prefix assessment activities. This year, two groups were recognized for their outstanding commitment to outcomes assessment: Art program faculty and Graphic Communication Arts and Design faculty. Learn more…

Academic Affairs day 2013This year, 43 full-time and 28 adjunct faculty were recognized at the Academic Affairs Awards Reception on March 6 for their outstanding service to the College. MCC is proud of our dedicated faculty who help make it possible to serve the thousands of students who walk through our doors each quarter. Full-time faculty awards are represented by years of service, and adjunct faculty are recognized by quarters of service. We congratulate the faculty members who have reached a milestone. Exciting spring theatre at MCC

The MCC Theatre program is proud to announce another intercampus touring production in early May. The original play “Jackson Pollock: Visible Energy” will have both day and evening performances at the Elkhorn Valley, Fort Omaha and South Omaha campuses and Sarpy Center. It is co-directed by MCC Theatre faculty Doug Blackburn and Scott Working. Learn more…

Gearing up for the Great Plains Theatre Conference

Great Plains Theatre Conference Spring quarter means our annual Great Plains Theatre Conference is quickly approaching. This year, our eighth, we are thrilled to have returning conference favorite Constance Congdon as our honored playwright. Her wit, talent and kindness embody what the conference is about. Joining her are featured artists Ruth Margraff, Kate Snodgrass, Erik Ehn and Mac Wellman. The conference will run from Saturday, May 25 to Saturday, June 1. Learn more…
