Fall opening date changes
Check your calendars to ensure that you have the correct dates listed for the first week of the Fall 2012 quarter. A few of the original dates were switched for organizational purposes.
Part-time contract pay dates for 2012–13
With the approach of the Fall quarter, questions arise regarding when pay dates begin and end for part-time assignment throughout the coming year. Paydays take place on the 15th and last day of the month, until the
assignment is complete. Should the payday occur on a weekend or holiday, payment will be made on the last workday immediately preceding the weekend or holiday.
Part-time credit contract pay rate increase
At last year’s June Board of Governors meeting, new pay schedules were approved for faculty employed under part-time credit instruction contracts for the 2012–13 academic year.
Faculty Development Day: Aug. 29
Mark your calendars for the fall opening Faculty Development Day on Wednesday, Aug. 29. The IFEX team has been busy planning an interesting and informative day of professional development for both full-time and
adjunct faculty. The event will be held at the South Omaha Campus in the ITC Building.
Is your syllabus up to date?
Academic Affairs reminds instructors to use the most current MCC templates for syllabuses. All syllabuses will be reviewed closely for currency in 2012 Fall quarter.
Metro Reads! selects new book for 2012–13
Metro Reads!, MCC’s collegewide book program, has selected a new book for the 2012–13 year. The new book is The Try by James P. Owen, which includes inspirational real-life stories about people who never let go of their dreams.
MCC hosts military employment and resource fair
With the veteran unemployment rate well above the national average, Military and Veteran Support Services partnered with Career Services, OmahaJobs.com and the U.S. Army to host a Military Employment and Resource Fair on May 17 for National Military Appreciation Month.
Recycling at MCC
Recycling at MCC just got easier! Look for new blue stickers that read “RECYCLE” on MCC’s recycling bins, making it easier to distinguish between the waste can and recycling bin. The waste and recycling bins are now placed side-by-side making it more convenient as well.
