Academic Affairs message
A message from Dave Ho
It's been my pleasure to work at MCC for the past 20 years. I was able to be involved in a myriad of interesting and exciting activities, and I will be forever grateful for the opportunities afforded to me.
I leave knowing that an able replacement will become the new vice president for Academic Affairs. Kathleen Curphy, Ph.D., will be joining us prior to Fall opening. When you get a chance, please give her a warm MCC welcome.
Academic Affairs restructuring
Academic Affairs experienced some restructuring of the academic dean areas, including a few dean area name changes.
Date and time change for grades due
Effective Summer 2013, the time final grades are due in the system has changed to 7 a.m. (previously due at 11:59 p.m.). With that in mind, a few of the dates have also changed. These dates have been updated to the Academic Timetable and are listed inside for your convenience.

Part-time contract pay dates for 2013
As the Fall quarter approaches, questions often arise regarding pay dates for part-time contracts throughout the coming year. Paydays occur on the 15th and last day of the month, until the assignment is complete.
Professional development input requested
The IFEX team is looking for your input to help us provide faculty development that is meaningful, useful and relevant. We are committed to providing faculty with as much support as possible, and one of the ways MCC supports faculty is through professional development.
Adjunct faculty professional development pay authorization
One of the benefits MCC adjuncts enjoy is compensation for attending MCC-sponsored, dean-approved professional development sessions and departmental meetings. Adjuncts are compensated at the rate of $18 per hour, with an annual maximum of 30 hours (July 1–June 30). This annual maximum does not include PETS training.
MCC Interior Design students: Habitat ReStore Designers Challenge 2013
For the second consecutive summer, students of MCC’s Interior Design Program have met the challenge, the Habitat ReStore Designer Challenge, that is, by teaming with well-known local interior designers to create and fabricate actual interior spaces. These spaces consisted of 8’ x 8’ room vignettes that were on display in the lower level of the Von Maur Court at Westroads Mall.
MCC unveils new brand identity
Metropolitan Community College today introduces a new brand and identity system that sets the visual direction of the College for years to come and modernizes the recognizable MCC "M."
The College worked with local design firm Oxide Design Co. to refine the College brand and visual identity. With the goal of developing a bold and forward-looking brand identity, the College worked with students, staff, faculty and administrators to compile input on the College's brand attributes. Oxide Design worked with this input to develop the new logo that reflects a contemporary, multifaceted and growing MCC.
