Gold medal to MCC’s SkillsUSA Teamworks team

“I’m going to Kansas City; Kansas City here I come!” These are the refrains from an old, old song and were the focus of 24 MCC students during the last week in June. MCC instructors/advisors and industry partners attended the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference held in Kansas City. They were among the 15,000 folks from around the country who converged on Kansas City to participate in the 50th annual conference.

Vital functions of the academic advising profession

A common misconception about academic advisors at MCC is that registration is their primary function. It is true, at times the job does allow the opportunity to register students for courses designed to enhance their knowledge, increase their skill level, open their minds, and take them on a path of discovery. It is equally true registration is a very small part of what the advisors do on a daily basis.
