In May 2009, Dr. Arthur Rich, Vice President of Campuses and Student Affairs, appointed a committee to research and recommend a new and improved advising model for MCC based on best practices. Recognizing that advising is the role of many and support for it comes from different areas of the College, the committee membership includes advisors, counselors, faculty, IT staff and Student Services directors. The New Institute for the Culinary Arts at MCC

ICA With more restaurants per capita than any other U.S. city and an increase in people looking for formal education in the food and restaurant industries, the new Institute for the Culinary Arts (ICA) opened for classes on Nov. 30, 2009. A public grand opening is planned for March 22, 2010. The building came about through four years of planning and more than 20 years of perfecting the curriculum, scheduling and image. From humble beginnings in a storefront at 50th and Dodge Sts. to a state-of-the art facility with educational, conferencing and meeting space on the Fort Omaha Campus, the ICA puts MCC on the map as a regionally recognized training facility for culinary professionals.
