Academic Affairs Day and Faculty Development Day
Mark your calendars for the upcoming Academic Affairs Day on March 6 and Faculty Development Day on March 7. Both days offer faculty an opportunity to network, recognize achievements and learn.
MCC email address compliance
According to MCC procedures, faculty, staff and students are required to use MCC email addresses for all College business.
Summer continuing education teaching opportunity
College for KidsMCC’s Continuing Education department is searching for part-time instructors for the College for Kids summer program. Courses are offered Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.–noon during June and July at a different location each week.
Inspiring Innovation Mini Grants
The MCC Foundation Board invites MCC staff and faculty to join in the Inspiring Innovation Mini-Grants initiative. Grants of up to $3,000 will be awarded to successful applicants.
Student retention has recently become the central focus for MCCs academic counselors with the sole purpose of improving retention rates. The College’s four academic counselors, Christine Saitta (SOC), Norma Morehouse (SOC), Adrian Lewandowski (FOC) and Molly Engdahl (EVC), are part of a team effort that also includes Diana Kerwin-Kubr, EVC director of student services, and Maria Vazquez, associate vice president for student affairs.
Disability Support Services – student and postsecondary responsibilities
Colleges have an obligation under the Americans with Disabilities Act to provide qualified students with disabilities access to their programs and services. Institutions also have an obligation to provide reasonable accommodations. However, students also have equal, if not greater, responsibilities to be partners with educational institutions in meeting their needs.
Military student nominations sought
MCC’s Operation Joining Forces Conference is a military support conference and expo scheduled for March 8 at the Fort Omaha Campus, Building 22, Swanson Conference Center from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
