MCC’s credit insurance classes approved by Nebraska Department of Insurance
The Nebraska Department of Insurance has approved MCC to offer the courses necessary to become a licensed insurance provider. MCC is the only accredited academic institution in Nebraska to meet this standard in providing this curriculum.
The approval means MCC students who take either of these state-approved courses will have the opportunity to sit for the appropriate exam required to become a licensed insurance provider, specifically the Consultant's Examination for Life and Health Insurance and the Property and Casualty Insurance Examination.
The following approved classes are being offered this Spring quarter:
- INSU 1000 WW* – Principles of Health and Life Insurance (4.5 credit hours)
- INSU 1100 WW* – Principles of Property/Casualty Insurance (4.5 credit hours)
For individuals seeking to move into a new career, this is an opportunity to do so in a relatively short period of time from their own home or office. The state-approved curriculum will also be combined with other courses to lead to a certificate or an associate degree.
This is an expansion of the dual purpose of existing areas of curriculum. MCC has more certified and state-approved courses in finance, financial planning, financial counseling, insurance and real estate than any other educational institution in Nebraska. Most of these courses are also available online and lead to degrees and certificates in these growing disciplines.
*Lab fee of $40 covers course completion and documentation fees required by the Nebraska Department of Insurance. Students are required to schedule their own licensure exams and satisfy other licensing requirements.
