I joined Metropolitan Community College and TRiO in 2004 after having worked at a public housing agency, a high school, and a national youth and education training agency. I am a graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, University of Minnesota in St. Paul, and the University of Nebraska at Omaha where I received a Masters in Agency Counseling.
As a Counselor for the TRiO program, I look forward to helping students learn to chart their own course and achieve their goals. Spending time with family and church ministries are always a part of my schedule; any "extra time" is usually spent going to thrift shops, reading and just relaxing.

My work with the TRIO Program began in June of 2007 as the Interim TRIO Program Administrator. I enjoyed the dynamic staff, and the academic and career counseling that was given to our wonderful students.
Currently, I am the Retention Specialist. As Retention Specialist, my purpose is to support and encourage positive behaviors for the students in the TRIO Program that result in successful retention, graduation, transfer, and graduation from a four year institution in a timely manner.
I received my Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the University in Lincoln, my Masters Degree in Education from the University of Nebraska in Omaha, and my Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

I began working with Single Parent Homemaker Services in October 2001 when I completed my Human Services degree at Metropolitan Community College. Prior to coming to Metro I worked in corporate America. My last position was a Corporate Vice-President. I decided there must be more in life than what they had to offer and have never regretted my change in careers.
I was a single parent, first generation adult student. I understand the fears and frustrations of returning to school as an adult while trying to raise your children, work, and run a household. I firmly believe in what TRiO and the Single Parent program stands for. We all want our participants to be successful and that's why I am here!
