TRiO is proud to introduce the program's newest retention specialist,
Kathy J. Trotter. Her responsibilities include:
- Supporting and encouraging positive behaviors that result in students'
successful retention, graduation, transfer and graduation from a four-year
institution in a timely manner.
- Assisting students who are experiencing academic difficulty by helping them
develop a plan for success.
"I am devoted to student success and look forward to helping students excel in the
TRiO program," said Trotter. "Whether it be studying, testing or time management
skills, I am a valuable resource ready to help students."
TRiO also offers a comprehensive tutoring service for program participants.
Professional tutors and supplemental instruction group sessions are available. In the
supplemental instruction sessions, group leaders help students improve their oral
communication skills and their ability to explain a concept. These group sessions help
students develop a sense of community and create a support unit that allows for
sharing of ideas and contributes to the improvement of each leader's performance.
TRiO's professional tutors help students help themselves. Tutors encourage high
levels of thinking while they help students improve and increase their attitudes
toward subject areas. Tutors also help students improve their academic performance and
personal growth. Currently, math tutors area available. If you are in need of a math
tutor, contact Trotter at
firstname.lastname@example.org or 402-457-2651.
