MCC to host transgender speaker as part of LGBTQ Pride Month

OMAHA, Neb. — Metropolitan Community College will host transgender speaker, Ryan Sallans, for a presentation on Tuesday, June 28, 6:15 - 7:45 p.m. in Building 10, room 110 of the College’s Fort Omaha Campus. Additionally, Sallans will be part of an open question and answer session on Wednesday, June 29, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in room 114 at the College’s Elkhorn Valley Campus and 2 - 3 p.m. in Building 10, room 110 at the Fort Omaha Campus. The visit by Sallans is part of the College’s LGBTQ Pride Month events.
Attendees will explore the language and concepts of the transgender umbrella with Sallans while learning about his transition from female to male. Sallans will share his struggles and his journey with the audience while raising awareness for LGBTQ issues.
Author of the book “Second Son,” Sallans became internationally known after the release of the 2006 LOGO channel documentary “Gender Rebel,” which followed him through the beginning steps of his gender transition. He has made appearances on Larry King Live, HuffPost Live, Trisha and more.
