Art exhibition, sketching workshop comes to MCC


OMAHA, Neb. — Metropolitan Community College’s Gallery of Art and Design, 829 N. 204th Street, will welcome “Thinking Out Loud” beginning Monday, Dec. 5 and running through Jan. 7, 2017. The exhibition will feature the personal projects of Reid Schlegel, an industrial designer from prestigious Frog Designs, Inc. In addition, a special workshop focused on sketching will be hosted by Schlegel on Thursday, Dec. 8, 6-8 p.m., in room 114 of the Elkhorn Valley Campus.


To help welcome Schlegel and his works of art, a special opening reception will be held on Thursday, Dec. 8, 5-6 p.m. The reception will also feature an open discussion where attendees can explore Schlegel’s inspiration for his art. Guests will be among the first to view the new exhibition at MCC as well as have the option of provided food and drinks. The event is free and open to the public.


The Gallery of Art and Design’s hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The mission of the gallery is to provide a creative and academic experience for students, faculty, staff and the visiting public in an intimate campus setting, where all exhibits and events are free and open to the public.
