Veterans Day Celebration at MCC to honor those who have served

OMAHA, Neb. — Metropolitan Community College will host a Veterans Day Celebration on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. at the College’s South Omaha Campus inside room 120 of the Industrial Training Center, 27th and Q streets. The event will feature Brigadier General Wendy K. Johnson as the keynote speaker.

MCC information technology instructor and retired Chief Master Sgt. Gary F. Sparks will be the event’s master of ceremonies. Additionally, there will be a POW/MIA presentation and posting of colors by Papillion-La Vista South High School NJROTC. The event is free and open to the public.

About Brigadier General Wendy K. Johnson
Wendy K. Johnson is the director, joint staff for the Nebraska National Guard. She is responsible for the direction and control of all Nebraska Army and Air National Guard forces for homeland security, civil support capabilities, international affairs and joint force activities, including National Guard Civil Support and Defense Support of Civil Authorities. Prior to receiving her commission, she served as an enlisted member of the Nebraska Air National Guard. Johnson earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Master of Science from Emporia State University.
