MCC to sponsor Omaha Fashion Week Student Night to spur fashion program

OMAHA, Neb. — Metropolitan Community College will sponsor Omaha Fashion Week’s Student Night on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 6-10 p.m. The event will feature fashion collections from area high school students and is part of a week’s worth of fashion and design events at Omaha Design Center, 1502 Cuming St.

The sponsorship comes at a time when MCC is just months into its own fashion program, an initiative that features the partnership between the College and Omaha Fashion Week. With the help of the producers of Omaha Fashion Week, MCC is able to offer courses that teaches students the tools they need to start their own business as designers or work in the industry in other ways, such as stylists, manufacturing or merchandising. As part of the collaboration with Omaha Fashion Week, MCC students will be eligible for apprenticeships with the organization.

Tickets for Student Night are free to students who show their student ID or $10 for non-students. Blocks of complimentary tickets are also available to student groups. A cash prize will be awarded to the top designer.
