Global Languages

What are 'Global languages'?

As Americans participate in a global business economy and the U.S. military continues to have a presence in many foreign zones, speaking a second language (or third or fourth) can be a real asset to a student.

MCC offers foreign language courses in a variety of languages—Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, and Sign Language. These courses provide intense, college-level credit courses aimed at the student seeking fluency in a language well beyond ‘survival phrase’ learning for travel. MCC also takes it one step further and emphasizes cultural awareness in addition to vocabulary and conversational skills.

Oral Language Interpreting

In addition to basic language instruction, the Humanities and Visual Arts Department has developed a series of courses for a language interpretation certificate. These courses educate students in legal, medical and community language interpretation. The program is completely online and focuses on students who are fluent in English and in a second language.
