PROTO Participant Resources

PROTO Participant Resources

Project PROTO utilizes career skills coaches to serve as a guide and resource for program participants. Coaches are responsible for targeting an individual’s needs and helping them to identify appropriate and helpful resources within the Metropolitan Community College system and Omaha metro area community.

They are tasked to work with individuals on developing their own self-advocacy, goal clarification and development, motivation, time management, soft skills and assisting them in creating their own academic and career plans. PROTO coaches employ an individual-centered approach which builds upon independence and accountability and encourages those they work with to fully engage in learning and skill development/training opportunities available to them.

Project PROTO coaches provide regular contact with students in IT majors at key checkpoints throughout their time in the program. Participants determine the level of assistance a coach may provide them throughout their duration as an MCC IT student.

Tutoring is an excellent way for students to get assistance with course concepts that are challenging and difficult to comprehend. MCC tutors share their subject matter expertise to guide students in overcoming their obstacles to academic success and enhance their college learning experience. To request tutoring assistance in your IT coursework, please visit the PROTO Tutor Request page.
