Open Kitchen Travel: Cuba

​As spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues, Metropolitan Community College is taking sensible steps to keep our College community protected. The College's top priority is the health and safety of the MCC community and as such, has moved to suspend all upcoming student, faculty and staff College-sponsored international travel through December 31, 2020.

Important Announcement:

In line with the College’s suspension of all student travel, the Open Kitchen Travel: Cuba courses will not happen in April and May 2020. However, we are rescheduling this travel experience, led by Chef-instructors from the Institute for the Culinary Arts, for the spring of 2021. We know that the chef-led experience is an important piece of why you enrolled in this course and we want to provide you with the experience you enrolled for. Celebrate Travel has been instrumental making this change a possibility.

Current details:

  • Delta Airlines has agreed to extend the travel dates on our tickets into 2021. Celebrate Travel has compelled Delta to waive the $300 transfer fee per ticket to change ticket dates.
  • There may be cost changes in airline fees when tickets are re-booked, but Celebrate Travel has assured us they will do their best to keep changes in price as minimal as possible. Cost changes will be paid by students, and will be remitted directly to Celebrate Travel. All funds paid remain non-refundable.
  • All Cuban vendors have agreed to transfer money paid by you to the future trip when we re-book it for spring 2021.
  • Our Cuban visas are good to keep and use next year. If you’ve already gotten yours, tuck that away in your safe.
  • Dates should be similar to the dates booked this year.
  • Information about your purchased insurance, and how to transfer that, will be coming soon.

Note: Specific plans may be subject to change. In the event of changes, MCC and Celebrate Travel will do everything in our power to provide equivalent replacement activities.
