- Sewing machine

- Variety sizes hand sewing needles

- Thimble size to fit middle finger; any style is OK
Week 1: Pillowcase
- 100 percent cotton
- Coordinating thread
- For standard size 1 ¼ yard per pillow case
- For king size 1 ½ yard per pillow case
Week 2: Pajama bottom
- 3 yards cotton flannel (washed and dried)
- Coordinating thread
- 1” wide elastic for waistband
- Suggested pattern Butterick B5153
Week 3: Tote bag
- ½ yard bottom weight fabric such as denim, duck or twill
- Embellishments for decorating such as felt for animal face, beads or jewels
- Minimum of 1 ½ yard of 1” grosgrain for handles
- Extra fabric is needed if adding pockets or lining
- Coordinating thread
Week 4: Doll/Teddy Bear outfit
- Any leftover scrap or remnant suitable for doll clothes
- Coordinating buttons, snaps and embellishments
- Thread
- Doll or teddy bear. A doll size like an American Girl doll is a good size to work with. Smaller dolls like Barbie are too small for a beginner sewer. We will have a discussion about this project to find or create an appropriate pattern that will fit the doll/ bear. This is a good project to learn how to sew buttons and snaps.
