Ross Pesek

MCC Foundation Board of Directors

Ross PesekRoss Pesek has an associate degree from Central Community College Columbus, a Bachelor of Science degree from Wayne State College and a Juris Doctorate with distinction from the University of Nebraska College of Law. Recently, he has started his own firm with Pesek Law, LLC. As a private attorney, Ross focuses on Criminal Defense, Immigration and Accident and Injury cases. Ross has been lead counsel in federal and state criminal jury trials, argued before the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals and the Nebraska Court of Appeals as lead counsel, helped over 100 people achieve legal immigration status and secured nearly a million dollars in settlements for injured clients.

Ross’s volunteer experience includes being an advocate for immigrants and their families and offering free legal services. He has established a free legal clinic at Our Lady of Guadalupe church in South Omaha where he has provided free legal consultation to over 800 people. Ross also established the True Potential scholarship program. In 2014, True Potential awarded 5 full-tuition scholarships to immigrant students attending community colleges who are not eligible for financial aid based on their immigration status. True Potential maximizes scholarship funds by requesting that each receiving institution match the funds awarded. The MCC Foundation matches up to two True Potential scholarships annually. Ross also serves on the Matters on Tomorrow Board of Directors and the Nebraska Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

He is interested in serving on the MCC Foundation board because he has a very strong interest in community colleges and has a desire to see them flourish. Ross believes community colleges should be entrance points to higher education for as many people as possible. Affordability and access are issues in which he has particular interest.
