Workforce Support Grant and Scholarship

Are you currently unemployed or underemployed because of COVID-19? MCC has a program that might help you.

The purpose of the MCC Workforce Support Grant & Scholarship Program is to provide supplemental financial support to enable students affected by COVID-19 to focus their energies on entering and completing short-term training. You can learn skills in the following professions (not limited to):

  • 3D and Virtual Reality Designer and Developer Program
  • Associate Project manager
  • Automotive Express Lane Technician
  • Carpet Floor Installer
  • Certified Site Supervisor
  • Code School
  • Commercial Custodian Certificate
  • Digital Marketing
  • Facilities Maintenance Technician
  • Giber Optics Technician
  • Hard Surface Floor Installer
  • Insurance Producer
  • IT Operations
  • Pharmacy Technician
  • Project Manager
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator
  • Sheet Metal
  • Veterinary Assistant
  • Cisco Certified Network Technician
  • Class A CDL Driver Training
  • Customer Service Representative
  • IT Desktop Support
  • Medical Services Representative
  • Office Administration

Requirements for the program:

  • You must go through the GAP application process (make this a link)
  • NE or IA resident
  • Completed the NCRC
  • Accepted into a short-term training program at MCC
  • Ability to complete the program
  • Willing to be employed full-time upon completion of the program
  • Willing to provide follow-up information for at least 6 months after program completion

Pays specifically for

  • job placement services
  • transportation support
  • other wrap-around supports

Steps taken

Intake

  • discuss participant’s employment goals
  • identify barriers to meeting these goals
  • create an individualized employment plan (IEP) to achieve their goals
  • enroll participant into the training program
  • enroll students into the program

Orientation

About a week before the program begins, you will go to a required orientation. The orientation is specific to each program. The general information covered during the orientation is:

  • participation requirements
  • set the stage for classroom and learning expectations.
