Welcome to the MCC CARES Scholarship Workforce Retraining Initiative.

Nebraska allocated over $16 million in federal stimulus funds to CARES Act Scholarships to retrain displaced workers for new careers. Funded by this initiative, Metropolitan Community College (MCC) is awarding over 5,200 scholarships for students to go through customized training programs. MCC is partnering with area businesses, and we are looking for businesses like yours. MCC are experts at training individuals to meet the needs of your current talent pool.

How does my business become involved in hiring events?

This is a very easy step. We encourage all businesses that MCC’s Workforce Innovation Division works with to become a supporting business of the (HWRC). Supporting the HWRC Initiative opens doors to business engagement across all avenues within the workforce system. Specifically, when working with WID, those businesses get first access to corporate training opportunities and direct access to talent pipelines of individuals attending training to upskill and enter the workforce. the HWRC is completely FREE!

What are the pros of my business being engaged with MCC’s Workforce Innovation Division?

  • Identify and share occupational needs and data

  • Utilize the National Career Readiness Certification for relevant positions

  • Provide expertise regarding career pathways and corresponding skills and competencies

  • Share skill set needs for both hard and soft job skills

  • Membership on academic or training program Advisory Committees

  • Provide tuition assistance/tuition reimbursement to promote ongoing education and training

  • Provide flexibility to employees to access training toward upskilling for career advancement

  • Provide industry site visits to participants
