1. I don't know my username and password for the new student email account. How do I access this information?
New students are sent their username by US mail three to five days after registering. The letter does not include an initial password. Students need to use Forgot Password inside Password Reset to register at Password Reset, then use Forgot Password again to create a new password.
Please visit the Password Reset if you have problems logging in or don't know your username and/or password.
2. What email system is used?
MCC’s student email system uses cloud-based Office 365.
3. What can be accessed through Office 365?
Office 365 is a cloud-based solution that provides access to:
- Outlook email for electronic communication
- Calendar to keep track of classes and events
- People contact list
- Yammer is an enterprise social network which draws connections between individual users based on their social networks
- OneDrive free mobile versions of Microsoft Office products and storage space for documents.
- Sites follow public and team sites
- Tasks to keep track of assignments, and other items to be done
4. Can I forward my student email to a personal email account?
No, forwarding email is no longer allowed.
5. Can I sync my student email account to my smart phone?
Yes, you may access your student email account through your smart phone. Connect your mobile phone or device to your account.
6. How often should I check my student email account?
The College recommends checking your student email account daily. This is the College’s primary tool to communicate with you about important deadlines, missing materials for financial aid, billing statements, class notes and updates, and activities. Certain communications may be time‐critical, so could impact your enrollment. Not checking your email is not an excuse for missing important information. This is your responsibility.

8. Why do I need a student email account?
This is the College’s primary tool to communicate with you about important deadlines, missing materials for financial aid, billing statements, class notes and updates, and activities. This is also the only email account listed in Canvas for faculty contact with students for online courses. Certain communications may be time‐critical, so could impact your enrollment or cause you to miss important information about classes. Not checking your email is not an excuse for missing important information. This is your responsibility.
9. How to search for instructors’ or other students’ emails?
When composing a new email, search for instructors, students, or groups by typing the name into the To: section
and press the Enter key to select the person or for a drop down search list to choose from.
10. What is the storage capacity of my student email account and document storage?
The storage capacity for your student email account is 2.41 MB, at 49.5 GB you won't be able to send mail.
Document storage space using OneDrive is 1TB.
11. Privacy, why it’s important.
Users should exercise extreme caution in using email to communicate confidential or sensitive matters, and should not assume that email is private and confidential. It is especially important that users are careful to send messages only to the intended recipient(s). Particular care should be taken when using the "reply" command during email correspondence. All use of email will be consistent with the Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources with regard to MCC. Email shall not be the sole method for notification of any official legal action.
12. What type of protection will be provided?
Spam and malware protection will be provided by Office 365 (Microsoft Corporation).
