What is A Career Academy?
Metropolitan Community College Career Academy provides an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to learn specific career knowledge and skills prior to high school graduation. By participating in year-long MCC Career Academies, students can explore a career field and even get a start on a degree and/or job, all while earning up to 37 college credit hours.
Eligibility:
- Must be a high school junior or senior and at least 16 years of age
- Student must have transportation to and from classes
- Approval through the counselor at each participating high school
COST
Current Nebraska High School students, grades 9 - 12, are automatically eligible to take credit classes at no tuition cost. Students will be responsible for tools, textbooks, and any other associated course fees. Tuition for dual enrolled students will be paid for by federal funding, directed by the State and CCPE. STUDENT EXPECTATIONS
Courses offered at Metropolitan Community College (MCC) have college-level content, subject matter, expectations and standards, and students will be graded accordingly. It is the responsibility of the student to comply with MCC’s student code of conduct and all standards set forth in the course syllabus. Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the student controls access to their college records and parent(s)/legal guardian may not have access without completion of the Authorization to Release Student Information form.

Step 1: Complete an MCC application to obtain your MCC ID#.
Step 2: Complete the Career Academy application packet.

NEXT STEPS AFTER APPLICATION
- Applications are accepted through March 2024.
- Acceptance emails will be sent by May 2024.
- Orientations will begin Summer 2024.
