Student Wellbeing

Wellness is more than being healthy—it is overall wellbeing that takes into account the many aspects of your life and person: your emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual health. Increasing your wellness in any area will lead to an overall increase in your quality of life.

There are many ways to increase your wellness and resources are available at MCC, in your community, and online. Included below are just a few resources to help you on your way to wellness in different areas of your life:

Learn about the importance of nutrition in maintaining your mental well-being. This session will address the 3 main challenges with quitting sugar and providing 7 solutions to stop sugar cravings.

April 6th: The Power of Self-Confidence For Success
Learn how to confront the story that is holding you back and get 10 easy tips to gain more confidence.

April 13th: Eating Disorders 101 
How much do you really know about eating disorders? Most people have heard of them, but can’t separate fact from fiction.

Eating disorders typically begin between 18 and 21 years of age. The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) estimates that between 10 and 20% of women and 4 to 10% of men in college suffer from an eating disorder, and rates are on the rise.

Join EDCare Omaha and Regional Outreach Representative Lindsey Loutsch for an engaging presentation on eating disorder causes, signs, symptoms, effects, treatment options, and what you can do to support a friend or loved one that is struggling. Stick around for a Q&A!

April 20th: How to Help a Friend
This session will discuss emotional distress and explores how students can support their friends who are going through a tough time.

April 27th: Time and Stress Management
Assess your stress level and learn how to balance all aspects of your life--work, school, study time, and your personal life. This session will guide you through a self-assessment of your priorities, stress level, and current use of time. Making a schedule, planning ahead based on syllabi analysis, and building in time for studying and self-care are discussed. You will also learn tricks for relaxing and managing stress.
