Faculty Instructions for Testing Services

Make-up/retake Testing information

Effective November 30th, 2021: Instructors are responsible for proctoring make-up and retake test(s) for their students.

Testing Services will assist in test proctoring for individual students who have missed an in-class test due to a justifiable circumstance after an instructor has exhausted all other options outside of utilizing Testing Services.

  • Exceptions can be made for DSS students with an approved accommodation that cannot be met during the regular class period, such as extended time or the use of a reduced distraction room.

Students and Faculty should be aware of their responsibilities in using MCC's Testing Centers. Students' responsibilities can be found on the Student Testing Policy page.

Options to support student make-up/retake tests outside of Testing Services:

  • Students will coordinate make-up/retake exams to be proctored directly by their instructor outside of class.
  • Students will continue to use Respondus Monitor and Mylab math with access to technology. If a student needs a laptop or hotspot, have them visit our laptop loan program Student Needs.

Instructions for the use of the Testing Center:

If an instructor and student have exhausted all options for the instructor to proctor the exam then the instructor may submit the student's test along with the Instructor Test Transmittal Form to the Testing Center.

Please note:

  • Make-up/Retake testing is available only on Mondays (9:00am-6:00pm) and Thursdays (9:00am-6:00pm).
  • Tests must be delivered to the Testing Center at least 24 hours in advance of the student's appointment.
  • Fort Omaha and South Omaha Testing Centers are closed Saturday and Sunday with limited hours Friday.
  • Elkhorn Valley and Sarpy Center Testing Centers are closed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
    • If a student is testing on a Monday, please plan to submit the test no later than Thursday the week prior.
  • The due date of the exam should be with in 2 weeks of submission to the Testing Center.
    • Exams may not have due dates stating, "End of Quarter", "Last day of class".
  • The Testing Center does not proctor tests to an entire class if an instructor is absent from class.
  • For credit courses, instructors may keep one test per student per class in the Testing Center at any one time.
    • If a second test for the same student enrolled in the same course is received, the first exam will be returned to the instructor to make space for the second unless a special 1 time agreement has been agreed to.

Student Requirements, Appointments and Walk-In Testing:

  • All Testing Centers have suspended walk-in testing appointments. However, same-day testing may be provided for students based on seating availability and at the discretion of attending testing center staff. A testing seat may not be available due to demand.
  • Instructors are not authorized to make students appointments or vouch for their student’s identification.
  • Students are held responsible to make their own testing appointments and providing valid identification.
  • All proctored testing requires students to have a current valid government/state/MCC Student issued photo ID card or passport.
    • Expired, copies, photos, or electronic snapshots are not valid ID.

Additional Notes:

  • Testing Center staff will inform students about any stated time limits, and the time of the exam's start and completion are documented. It is not always possible to strictly enforce the time limits.
  • Cheating will be enforced in accordance with the Student Conduct and Discipline Procedures Memorandum. If testing staff observe prohibited behaviors or use of unauthorized materials by test-taking students, they will document the behavior and notify the test-owning Faculty Member by sending the Faculty Member an incident report.
  • It is a conflict of interest for Testing Center staff to "hand out" or "collect" any class related material before or after an exam, such as assignments or class notes.
    • The Testing Center staff will direct students to Student Services to turn in any class materials not related to their exam.
