Alternatives to MCC ACCUPLACER Assessment

Metropolitan Community College's ACCUPLACER (or remote ACCUPLACER) assessment is the preferred form of placement test used for admission into MCC courses. Students who submit test scores or transcripts for placement from other educational institutions may still need to take a portion or two of the MCC ACCUPLACER to insure proper course placement.

ACCUPLACER or Compass Scores from Other Institutions: MCC may be able to accept recent ACCUPLACER or Compass scores released by other institutions for partial or full placement into Math, Reading, or English courses. If you have taken the ACCUPLACER or Compass Assessment at another institution within the past two years it is advisable that you work with that institution to release those scores to Metropolitan Community College. (However, since college placement requirements differ between institutions test scores, placement is not necessarily guaranteed entry into the same courses at the different institutions.)

ACT/SAT Scores: Students who have taken the ACT and SAT exams within the last two years can also submit those scores to MCC for placement. SAT scores may be used only for English/reading courses. ACT scores may be accepted for English/reading and math courses. Please note that, depending on scores, further assessment testing may be required.

High School or College Transcript Evaluation: Advanced Placement courses or other high-level coursework documented by high school or college transcripts may justify placement into MCC courses. If interested in this option, please contact an MCC Adviser.

Consult with an MCC Adviser to take advantage of any of the above options. More information can be located on MCC's Advising page.
