Noncredit Event and Wedding Planning Certificate

Event planners, companies and organization are eager to take their events to the next level. Completing this certification will be a major boost, positioning you as a knowledgeable, professional and highly committed planning professional. Our Noncredit Event and Wedding Planning Certification program will guide you through core classes to kick start or enhance your event planning career. Upon completion, you will be able to take your career from coordinating to producing high-functioning programming. You will strengthen your communication, interpersonal relationships, fine tune the art of negotiation, enhance your organizational and problem solving skills.

​Learning Outcomes:

  • Explore career opportunities within the event industry, while identifying which one of the industry's pillars is right for you.

  • Design concepts based on event goals and objectives.

  • Describe and preform all phases of event coordination (research, design, planning, pre-production, on-site management, evaluation & post-event).

  • Recognize and determine solutions for potential conflicts and challenges that may arise before, during and after and event.

  • Learn about the financial management process for event planning, from developing a budget to analyzing return on investment. 

  • Gain working knowledge of menu planning, pricing, food and beverage trends. 

  • Apply best practices in budgeting, vetting, contracting and entertainment. 

  • Become skilled at handling venue contracts, including developing a comprehensive RFP, evaluating vendors and preparing a negotiable plan. 

  • Integrate AV into your projects for a better client experience.

  • Identify specific potential risks associated with and event and manage resources to mitigate those risks. 

  • Complete a portfolio that can be presented to potential employers.

  • Seven tourism industries serve both local residents and tourists from outside of the county.

  • Attractions: museums, parks, historical sites, zoos and amusement or theme parks.

  • Accommodations and Lodging: hotels, motels, casino hotels, bed-and-breakfast and more.

  • Food and Beverage Services: food service, contractors, caterers, restaurants, cafeterias and more.

  • Recreation and Entertainment: marinas, rental goods, sports teams, clubs, racetracks, casinos, golf courses and country clubs.

  • Transportation:scenic and sightseeing transportation and charter bus industry.

  • Visitor and Travel Services: gift, novelty and souvenir stores, travel agencies and reservation services.

  • Events and Conferences: convention, visitors bureaus and convention and trade show organizers.

Job Market:
