Kickstart Online Institute

The Kickstart Online Institute (KSOI) is a series of MCC courses that are scheduled for college-ready high school students to kickstart their college degrees while still in high school at half-price tuition. These online college courses are provided in a 15-week format, count toward most MCC degrees, are transferable to many four-year institutions and are offered by NDE certified MCC instructors.

Who Can Participate?

High school students who meet course prerequisites.

How Is Credit Earned?

College credits earned through Kickstart Online Institute will appear on a student’s MCC transcript. MCC credits earned may transfer to other colleges or universities. To learn about transferability at local four-year colleges, please visit the Articulation webpage. It's important to remember that the grades earned while taking a college credit course will count toward the student's college grade point average (GPA) and will be a permanent part of their postsecondary transcript. High school credit for KSOI courses are not automatically earned. Students should check with their counselor about dual credit options.

Current Nebraska High School students, grades 9-12, are automatically eligible to enroll in Kickstart Online Institute courses at no tuition cost.  This opportunity begins with the 2022-23 academic year and ends with the 2024-25 academic year.  Students are responsible for textbooks, materials and other associated fees.
