At MCC, you will find an array of resources to aid in your transition to college life and to help ensure your academic and career success. These resources include dedicated spaces and services designed specifically for you, including professional advising, counseling, and support services, all provided by individuals who care and have a vested interest in your success.

​Welcome to MCC Veterans and Military Resource Center (VMRC)

The VMRC should be the first stop for new and returning student Veterans. All VMRC services and resources are available for Veterans, active duty, Guard and Reserves and their family members. The center serves as a liaison with other school functions and teams with VA, DoD, State and community resources to help ensure your success at MCC and in meeting life and career goals.

The VMRC is located at MCC's South Omaha Campus, Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) Bldg, Room 101. It is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

EVENTS  -- listed events hosted in VMRC

  • CDM Employment Presentation.  Wednesday, March 27, 1 PM to 2 PM.  Are you in a construction or trades program?  CDM has several career and employment options for you to consider.  Learn about these opportunities while building your employment network.
  • US Government Employment Briefing.  Wednesday, April 3, 1 PM to 2 PM.    Tom Allison, Certified Federal Job Search Trainer and Career Coach, from UNL’s Veterans Success Center will provide information about various resources, navigating application processes, and securing government employment. 
  • VA Resources Fair.  Wednesday, April 10, 11 AM to 2 PM.  Learn about resources and services available at the Omaha Veterans Center.  Meet with an outreach specialist from the VA hospital to learn about available healthcare services.  Connect with our VA Veterans Integration to Academic Leadership (VITAL) Counselor to learn about resources available to help military-connected students succeed at school.
  • Student Veterans Organization (SVO) Spring Term MeetingThursday, April 18, 1 to 2 PM.  Get an update on our SVO while connecting with other student Veterans.  Also learn about the various resources provided by Student Veterans of America.
  • Veteran Graduation Honor Cord Pick Up.  Wednesday, May 1 to Thursday, May 9  If you are Active Duty, Guard or Reserve, Separated, or a Veteran and plan to participate in MCC’s 2024 commencement ceremony or completed your program, stop by the VMRC during office hours between May 1 to     May 9 to pick up your graduation honor cord.

Getting Started

If you have questions or need assistance, the VMRC staff can walk you through the MCC application process. It is free to apply and completing an application does not obligate you to attend at MCC. To apply for admission go to Apply. NOTE: Students who have not attended MCC in the past two years will also need to complete an application. We can provide basic information about MCC academic programs and POC information.

Veterans Integration to Academic Leadership (VITAL) Program

MCC's Veterans & Military Resource Center (VMRC) is proud to announce the addition of Heather Bojanski as a member of its extended support staff. Heather works for the VA and serves as our Veterans Integration to Academic Leadership or VITAL Counselor.

The VITAL program is a collaborative effort between the school, the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) and state and local agencies to ensure our student Veterans, military and family members get the tools they need to succeed.  In addition to serving as a trusted counselor and advocate for students, other actions Heather can help with include:

  • Assistance with VA health care enrollment and information updates
  • VA Vocational Rehabilitation—referral and coordination
  • Coordination of VA health care services
  • Veteran health care appointment scheduling
  • Liaison with VA health care providers and VBA personnel
  • Referrals to on-campus and state, county, and local services for Veterans
  • Consultation and support regarding issues impacting academic performance and retention

Student Veterans Organization

MCC Student Veterans Organization (SVO) is a charter member of Student Veterans of America. The SVO is student-driven and provides opportunities to develop leadership and to network and support fellow Veterans in academic, community and social settings. To learn more about the SVO, contact the VMRC at VeteransCenter@mccneb.edu or 531-622- 4770. Learn more about the SVA.  The next SVO meeting will be during the winter term.

Veterans and Service Members Graduation Recognition

In order to recognize its Veteran and military students, MCC is proud to present eligible graduates with a red, white and blue honor cord. Eligible students can pick up their honor cords when checking in for the graduation ceremony. In addition to the honor cord, students’ Veteran or military status will be recognized during the ceremony. If not attending the graduation ceremony, students can stop by the Veterans and Military Resource Center to obtain an honor cord.
