Financial Counseling

Overview

MCC's Financial Counseling program is an AFCPE® Approved Education Program. AFCPE® counseling certification is the most respected in the field of counseling and education. The Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC®) is the gold standard. The AFC® provides comprehensive knowledge and skills to assist clients in complex and financial decision making. An AFC® can address immediate money challenges, create a plan to achieve unique goals and dreams, and build a sustainable foundation for long term financial well-being.

Learning Goals

  • Identify ways to educate clients in sound financial principals
  • Recognize and assist clients in the process of overcoming financial indebtedness
  • Identify and modify client’s ineffective money management behaviors
  • Formulate successful strategies for achieving a client’s financial goals

  • Formulate and develop new perspectives on the dynamics of money in relation to family, friends, and individuals’ self esteem

Professional Credential

MCC students who complete the required curriculum have an opportunity to sit for a national exam and become an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC®). It is anticipated that the demand for these financial professionals will continue to grow given the financial challenges many households are facing today. MCC provides the course work necessary to fulfill the education requirements to become a Accredited Financial Counselor. The Career Certificate in Financial Counseling is a registered program with the Association for Financial Counseling & Planning Education®

Completion of said courses/programs does not guarantee success on exams, tests, or other requirements associated with externally awarded professional credentials.
