Precision Machine Technology prepares students for a career in an important high-tech area of today's manufacturing industry. Students learn to program, operate and set up machines used to manufacture machine components and parts. Using computer numerical control mills, lathes, grinders and drill presses, students learn to manufacture everything from motorcycle parts to aviation gears.

Precision machining is for you if you have the ability to follow written instructions, a good understanding of technology, basic math skills, a mechanical aptitude, the ability to work independently or on a team and have good problem solving skills.
The need for machinists and toolmakers will continue to be strong due to the aging workforce. Estimates state that the average age of a toolmaker is 58, which will lead to a very large demand for new workers in the near future. Machinist and toolmaker jobs remain unfilled for long periods of time due to the number of jobs available each year.

- CNC and Tool and Die Technology (PMTAS) - This degree option provides education and training in machine tool operated and related subjects. Students study die theory of blanking and notching dies. Students also design and construct a basic die.
- CNC Technology (PMCAS) - This degree option provides education and training in machine tool operated and related subjects. Instruction covers bench layout, machine tool operation and metal removal processes, measuring devices and classification of materials. Training includes hands-on activity and individualized instruction.
