This scholarship was established in 2019 by the friends, colleagues, and students of Robert B. Gronstal to honor more than forty years of teaching at Metropolitan Community College (formerly Metro Tech Community College) and his excellent service to the college, the accounting program, and to the students in the accounting program.
Mr. Gronstal has taught at MCC since Fall 1975. As senior accounting instructor, he has taken the lead in developing curriculum; helped develop accounting through the computer and other online courses; and participated in team-teaching efforts. He has also unofficially served as a highly-valued mentor and welcome advisor to the accounting instructors (full- and part-time). Twice he has earned the Excellence in Teaching Award.
Mr. Gronstal has a BSBA in Accounting from Creighton University in Omaha and an MBA with Accounting emphasis from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He earned his CPA license from the State of Nebraska. Mr. Gronstal is a Veteran, having honorably served in the United States Marine Corps.
This scholarship is to be awarded each year to a student enrolled in the MCC Accounting Program who has demonstrated intent to earn the Associate in Applied Science in Accounting degree and the academic standing needed to accomplish that goal.
This scholarship may be used for tuition.
Scholarship Criteria:
- Financial need is not required, but may be considered
- Student may be full-or part-time
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above at time of application, and must maintain GPA during the scholarship period
- Must be an accounting major or with a dual major
- Preference will be given to U.S. Military Veterans - Honorably Discharged.
Scholarships are usually offered during the spring and fall quarters. Scholarship availability varies depending on donor giving.
