Medical Assisting

Overview

The Medical Assisting program at MCC prepares students for one of the fastest growing healthcare career fields.

Medical Assistants are a unique and versatile part of the healthcare team. They can perform duties in the medical setting ranging from the front office to a variety of clinical duties like obtaining medical histories, taking patient vitals, giving injections, venipuncture, assisting with minor surgeries, ECGs and many other procedures.

  • Program outcomes: The Retention Rate for the 2019 admission cohort of the Medical Assisting program at Metropolitan Community College is 96.55% and the National Certification Exam Passage Rate Outcome for the 2019 graduate cohort of the Medical Assisting program at Metropolitan Community College is 100%.

  • Professional Health Studies - Medical Assisting (PHSMO) Associate in Applied Science Degree: Students who successfully complete the Medical Assisting certificate can earn the Professional Health Studies degree by fulfilling the additional 4.5 credit hours of general education requirements. Note that not all courses in the degree may transfer.
