About the MCC Blockchain Academy

The MCC Blockchain Academy is a series of professional workshops and training focused on blockchain technology. The Academy offers training for all skill levels and audiences from beginner to advanced. These courses and certifications are aligned with the Blockchain Certification Association.

The Mission of the Blockchain Academy is to:

  • clarify the purpose and application of blockchain
  • provide accessible and relevant training to area industry partners and professionals to help them leverage blockchain strengths for business purposes.

What is blockchain and why is it important?

A blockchain is a digital, decentralized ledger of transactions across a network of computer systems. When transactions take place on the blockchain, it creates a transaction record to every participant’s ledger, making tampering immediately apparent to participants on the blockchain. On a blockchain system, transactions are very difficult or impossible to modify or hack.

Blockchain technology is adopted anywhere secure transfer of information is necessary. Common examples of industry adoption of blockchain technology include:

Participants delve into the basics, look at how blockchain works, explore Bitcoin, review blockchain’ s history, and discover the practical usage of this technology. The objective of the course is to provide a solid foundation for those looking to gain a deeper understanding and learn how it will affect nearly all business areas. With a firm focus on, but not entirely limited to the finance industry, participants look at use cases that are already on the market, as well as emerging use cases set to alter how we operate businesses and safeguard our personal information. Topics Covered: 1. What blockchain is and what it’s not (It’s not bitcoin!) 2. Public vs. private sectors for using blockchains 3. Blockchain’s many applications 4. Crypto Trading

This 10-hour Crypto Trading course provides an in-depth understanding of bitcoin and the cryptocurrency marketplace. Participants discover how to begin, gain insight into investment in bitcoin and other crypto currencies, along with topics on how to manage these investments. Participants use a live crypto training simulator to learn and practice trading cryptocurrencies.

Certified Blockchain Project Manager

This 90-hour certification course is designed for professionals in a variety of industries and job functions who are looking to help their organization leverage Blockchain technologies with the knowledge and confidence required to be a Blockchain Project Manager. This program provides you the theory, strategy, and practical skills required to manage a blockchain project, including extensive understanding of the decision-making during a successful blockchain implementation and comparison of various blockchain platforms – open source and commercial. Aspects of the assessment, particularly blockchain architecture, are technical in nature requiring students to have completed formal blockchain architecture training. Upon successful completion of this course, participants are prepared to sit for the Certified Blockchain Project Management exam through the Blockchain Certification Association (BCA). Certified Blockchain Developer

This 80-hour professional certification course is designed for web development professionals in a variety of industries and job functions who are looking to help their organization leverage blockchain technologies. Topics include Solidity, an object-oriented programming language for writing smart contracts, smart contracts, consensus protocols, and public vs private chains, blockchain implementation decision making, host and mining options, blockchain architecture utilized for building blockchains, and app development including deploying a decentralized application (dapp). Upon successful completion of this program, participants are prepared for two blockchain certifications through the Blockchain Certification Association (BCA). Two exam vouchers are included in tuition. Certifications available at the conclusion of the program: • Blockchain Security Professional Certification A choice of one of the following: • Certified Blockchain Architect • Certified Corda Developer • Certified Hyperledger Fabric Developer • Certified EOS Developer.
