Alternatives to MCC Assessment Testing for Course Placement

Students who submit test scores or transcripts for placement from other educational institutions may still need to complete an MCC assessment test to ensure proper course placement.

Placement Scores from Other Institutions: MCC may be able to accept placement scores released by other institutions for full or partial placement into a Math or English course if you have taken the Assessment within the past two years. However, it is advisable that you work with your former institution to officially release those scores to Metropolitan Community College. Since college placement requirements differ among academic institutions, test scores and original course placement does not necessarily guarantee entry into the same course suggested by your prior institution.

ACT/SAT Scores: Students who have taken the ACT and SAT exams within the last three years can submit their scores to MCC for English, Reading and Math placement. Please note that depending on these scores, further assessment testing may still be required.

High School or College Transcript Evaluation: Advanced Placement courses or other high-level coursework documented by high school or college transcripts may justify placement into MCC courses. If interested in this option, please contact an MCC Adviser.

GED Math Scores: Students who have taken the GED Math test within the last three years may submit their score to be considered for Math placement.

To consult with an MCC Adviser or to take advantage of any of the above options, go to MCC's Advising page for more information.
