CollegeNOW!

WHAT IS COLLEGE NOW?

CollegeNow! is specifically designed for Nebraska high school students to jump-start their college education. Students enroll into sections taught by Metropolitan Community College faculty on campus or online.  Begin the pursuit of an associate degree and/or transfer MCC college credit to other colleges and universities with CollegeNow!

How Is Credit Earned?

College credits earned through CollegeNow! will appear on a student’s MCC transcript. MCC credits earned may transfer to other colleges or universities. Grades earned may impact future academic standing and financial aid eligibility.  To learn about transferability at local four-year colleges, please visit the Articulation webpage. It's important to remember that the grades earned while taking a college credit course will count toward the student's college grade point average (GPA) and will be a permanent part of their postsecondary transcript.

ELIGIBILITY:

Must be a current high school student, grades 9 - 12.  Students in 9th grade become eligible in MCC's Fall term.

What is the cost?

Current Nebraska High School students, grades 9 - 12, are automatically eligible to take credit classes at no tuition cost.  Students in 9th grade become eligible for the tuition waiver in MCC's Fall term. Students will be responsible for tools, textbooks, and any other associated course fees.  Tuition for dual enrolled students will be paid for by federal funding, directed by the State and CCPE.  Learn more about the tuition waiver.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

Courses offered at Metropolitan Community College (MCC) have college-level content, subject matter, expectations and standards, and students will be graded accordingly. It is the responsibility of the student to comply with MCC’s student code of conduct and all standards set forth in the course syllabus.  Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the student controls access to their college records and parent(s)/legal guardian may not have access without completion of the Authorization to Release Student Information form.

Next Steps After Registration

Step 1: Attend MCC's New Student Orientation online and review the dual enrollment guide.

Step 2: Review the Student Links where you can find access to CANVAS, MCC email, student self-service, and more!

Step 3: Need help logging in?  Set up your password or contact IT Support Services at 531-622-2900.

Step 5: Know your FERPA rights.

If a student under the age of 18 is enrolled in both a high school and a postsecondary institution, the parents still retain the right under FERPA at the high school, however, the postsecondary rights belong to the student.

  • Students who wish to grant parental or 3rd party access to their educational records may do so by submitting an Authorization to Release Student Information Form to the Records Office after course registration is complete.
