The Concurrent Enrollment program is a partnership between Metropolitan Community College and high school districts throughout the greater Omaha area. Concurrent Enrollment allows high school students to earn high school and college credit at the same time. Classes are taught in high school classrooms, by an MCC-approved high school faculty member, during the regular academic year.

How Is Credit Earned?
Concurrent Enrollment courses are MCC credit classes taught in a high school classroom environment. Both high school and college credits are earned through Concurrent Enrollment and are based on a student’s cumulative performance and will appear on a student’s high school transcript and MCC transcript. It's important to remember that the grades earned while taking a college credit course will count toward the student's college grade point average (GPA) and will be a permanent part of their postsecondary transcript.
MCC credits earned may transfer to other colleges or universities. To learn about transferability at local four-year colleges, view our Transfer Partners.
Expectations & Requirements
- Concurrent enrollment courses are official Metropolitan Community College (MCC) courses and carry college credit.
- Course curriculum, learning outcomes, grading standards, and assessments are established by MCC and follow college-level expectations.
- Courses are primarily taught by high school instructors who are approved to serve as MCC faculty for concurrent enrollment.
- Students are expected to meet all academic, attendance, and participation requirements outlined in the course syllabus and will be graded accordingly.
- For students under the age of 18, parents retain FERPA rights at the high school; however, postsecondary FERPA rights belong to the student.
- Students may grant parental or third-party access to their MCC educational records by submitting an Authorization to Release Student Information form to the Records Office after course registration is complete.
- High school IEPs or 504 Plans do not automatically apply to MCC courses. Students seeking academic accommodations must self-identify and work directly with MCC Disability Support Services. Accommodations are determined based on college-level standards and may differ from those provided in the high school setting.
What is the Cost?
Current Nebraska High School students, grades 9-12, are automatically eligible to take credit classes tuition free. Students in the ninth grade become eligible for the tuition waiver during the MCC Fall quarter. Students are responsible for tools, textbooks, and any other associated course fees..

Accommodations at the college level differ from those available at the high school level. Whether a course is taken at the high school, online, or at an MCC campus, they must contact a MCC Disability Support Service Counselor in advance to request accommodations. Students requesting accommodations must self-identity and can do so by reviewing Disability Support Services information.
