Secondary Partnerships

WHAT IS SECONDARY PARTNERSHIPS?

The office of Secondary Partnerships at Metropolitan Community College supports early college experiences for current  high school students by providing the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school. Students can take advantage of different programs such as Career Academy, College Now!, Kickstart Online, Concurrent Enrollment and Gateway to College.

LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR HIGH SCHOOL Programs

Career Academy provides an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to learn specific career knowledge and skills prior to high school graduation. Career Academy programs culminate in a career certificate or specialist diploma.

CollegeNOW! is designed for high school students to offer a jumpstart on their college education. Students enroll into sections taught by MCC faculty on campus or online.

Kickstart Online is a series of MCC general education courses for high school students. KSO courses count toward most MCC degrees, are transferable, and may count toward high school credit.

Concurrent Enrollment is a partnership between MCC and high school districts. Students earn both high school credit and college credit simultaneously while attending their scheduled course in the high school classroom.

Gateway to College is a nationally recognized dual-credit high school diploma completion program. The program serves students ages 16-20 years old who would like an educational setting that is individually tailored for student success.

WHAT IS THE COST OF PARTICIPATION?

Current Nebraska High School students, grades 9 - 12, are automatically eligible to take credit classes at no tuition cost. Students in 9th grade become eligible for the tuition waiver in MCC's Fall term. Students will be responsible for tools, textbooks, and any other associated course fees. Tuition for dual enrolled students will be paid for by federal funding, directed by the State and CCPE.   Learn more about the tuition waiver.
