About Online Credit Courses

Online credit courses are accessible using a standard web browser. The online credit courses are equivalent to on-campus courses and maintain the same academic standards. Each course is managed by a qualified Metropolitan Community College instructor who provides information, guides you, prompts discussion, helps with your assignments, answers your questions and grades your work.

MCC packs online learning with meaningful interactions delivered in flexible formats:

  • MCC Live Online (Remote) - Scheduled classes online, where students log in with instructors and peers (on the same day, at the same time), during scheduled class times. Any hands-on or applied learning also occurs remotely, with no on-campus activity required.
  • MCC Anytime (Online) - Classes are unscheduled and students log in to a program at any time on their schedule to complete their work.
  • MCC Blended - Courses that combine elements of online (MCC Anytime), videoconferencing (MCC Live Online) and on-campus learning, with on-campus time reserved for active learning and application, splitting online and on-campus time as course content dictates.

About Online Noncredit Courses

Continuing Education offers a wide variety of topics - hundreds of classes - delivered via online through a partnership with Ed2Go, ProTrain and VisionPoint. We offer a wide range of highly interactive short courses and videos that you may take entirely over the Internet. All have expert instructors, many nationally known authors.

Online Degrees and Certificates

Looking for instruction at times convenient to you? Online classes at MCC provide the flexibility of setting your own weekly schedule. Study and learn at times that fit into your busy life. Online courses are held during regular quarter starting dates: September, December, March and June. Dedicated faculty members provide quality instruction through this learning option.

Canvas

MCC courses are delivered via Canvas, an online platform that streamlines all the digital tools and content that teachers and students love, for a simpler and more connected online learning experience. In Canvas students can upload files to submit assignments, participate in discussions, collaborate with other students, take tests and more. Students can check their progress and grades at any time.

They can help with Blackboard troubleshooting, navigating online college systems and software, using Microsoft Office Programs, understanding assignments, and developing effective academic and study skills. Additionally, selected tutors can assist with challenging subjects such as information technology, sciences, and accounting. Contact the friendly Learning & Tutoring Center staff at LTCenter@mccneb.edu or (531) 233-0982 to ask questions or arrange an online appointment. Day, evening, and weekend assistance is available by Zoom, phone, text, and email, with bilingual assistance in Spanish, French, Vietnamese, and Russian available during scheduled hours. Accessibility

MCC is committed to the accessibility of our online courses and makes reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act/Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. If you have a documented disability that may affect your participation in an online course, please contact a Disability Support Services counselor before the course begins.

New Student Orientation

The online orientation is intended for currently registered new and continuing students, and should take about 45 minutes to complete. Since your progress is saved, it does not have to be finished in one sitting. If you must stop, you can return to finish it later. You may also return to view information again if you like. We encourage all new and continuing students to maintain regular visits and communications with their Enrollment Navigator or Academic Advisor for additional information and guidance.
