After a successful debut, the Metropolitan Community College Foundation is bringing Cars and Coffee back to the South Omaha Campus (2909 Edward Babe Gomez Ave.). On Saturday, Aug. 8, from 8 a.m. to noon, the parking lot outside the Automotive Training Center will fill with cars unique makes and models from different eras.

"Despite the early morning storms last year, we still had more than 60 cars and over 200 attendees," said organizer and MCC Foundation Alumni and Annual Giving Coordinator Jordan Matukewicz.

This year, visitors can enjoy additional seating areas, music from Omaha radio station Sweet 98.5 and tours of the state-of-the-art Automotive Training Center.

During the tours, visitors can also see the 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon, a limited-edition vehicle with more than 800 horsepower. The car is a traveling trophy a group of MCC Automotive Technology students was awarded for winning team of the 2025 Mopar CAP Bracket Challenge.

The free event brings alumni, community members and automotive enthusiasts together while helping support MCC students competing in regional and national SkillsUSA events. The competitions give students an opportunity to test their technical skills against other students participating in their field of study while building confidence and gaining real-world experience.

Visit mccneb.org/CarsAndCoffee to sponsor the event, make a freewill donation or register a vehicle.

“We just want to invite everyone — alumni, partners, future students, staff — onto our campuses,” Matukewicz said.

Looking ahead, the MCC Foundation's next community event is Beyond MCC on Sept. 24 at the Fort Omaha Campus. The event is a free professional development conference with a networking social hour.
