Media alert: MCC High School culinary competition tomorrow
What: High school students representing 16 Nebraska and Iowa schools will showcase their culinary expertise at the 14th annual Institute for the Culinary Arts High School Culinary Invitational. Teams will compete by preparing three-course meals and presenting them to expert judges in a “Chopped”-style format.
When: Friday, Feb. 22, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., with awards ceremony to follow
Where: Swanson Conference Center inside the Institute for the Culinary Arts, Fort Omaha Campus, 32nd Street and Sorensen Parkway.
Background: Students will represent the following schools: Blair High School, Burke High School, Central High School, Fremont High School, Homeschool, Lewis Central High School, Lincoln North Star High School, Lincoln Southeast High School, Louisville High School, Northwest High Magnet School, Omaha Career Center, Omaha South High Magnet School, Papillion-La Vista High School, Papillion-La Vista South High School, Ralston High School and Roncalli Catholic High School.
Scholarships, gift certificates, medals and a trophy will be presented to the winners of various categories. This year’s premier sponsor is Metropolitan Utilities District.
